Two High Court judges named for Court of Appeal

Two High Court judges have been nominated to the Court of Appeal. 

Ms Justice Caroline Costello and Ms Justice Isobel Kennedy were named by the Government on 10 October. 

Ms Justice Kennedy was sworn in as a High Court judge in February 2015. Ms Justice Costello, previously a senior counsel, became a judge in September 2014.

Ms Justice Costello is the daughter of the late Declan Costello, a former Attorney General and one of leading Fine Gael intellectuals of the 1960s, and author of the influential Just Society document, which became the focus of political debate in the 1960s. 

He was a son of former Taoiseach John Costello, and died in 2011 aged 84.

Ms Justice Costello recently presided for eight days over the Sean Dunne bankruptcy case.
