Case note contest deadline for Hibernian Law Journal

The Hibernian Law Journal is now accepting submissions for its Case Note Competition 2019 for volume 18 of the journal.

Case notes of 2,000 - 4,000 words are sought on recent seminal judgments by the Irish courts, the EU courts, or the European Court of Human Rights.

Jurisdictions

Judgments of other common law jurisdictions and international tribunals will be considered if they are relevant in an Irish context.

Case notes should critically analyse a judgment in terms of its legal background, persuasiveness of argument, comparative context, internal consistency, novelty, policy considerations and/or potential future developments and ramifications.

Cash prize

In addition to publication in the journal, a prize of €300 will be awarded for the best case note.

Submissions should be sent to editor@hibernianlawjournal.com by 1 February 2019.

Judgments of other common law jurisdictions and international tribunals shall be considered, provided that they are comparatively relevant in an Irish context.

Argument

Case notes should critically analyse a judgment in terms of, where relevant, its legal background, persuasiveness of argument, comparative context, internal consistency, novelty, policy considerations and/or potential future developments and ramifications.
