MH&C lift two IP awards

Mason Hayes & Curran’s  Intellectual Property team took home two awards at the prestigious 2019 Managing Intellectual Property Awards in London this month.

Partner and head of IP, Gerard Kelly accepted the awards for Trademark Contentious Firm of the Year – Ireland and Copyright Firm of the Year – Ireland.

Commenting, he said "We are delighted to win these awards, which underscore the significant and diverse range of IP work that we do for our clients."

The team was shortlisted for an additional two awards making them the only Irish IP team to be nominated in four out of a total of five categories.

The team handlesmajor patent and trademark cases. It acted for Fresenius in patent infringement proceedings regarding the launch of Amgevita by Amgen, a biosimilar of Humira which is currently the world’s top-selling drug.

It also acted for internet service provider UPC Ireland in copyright infringement proceedings taken by Irish recording companies, Sony, Warner and Universal to combat illegal P2P filesharing, seeking the introduction of a court-ordered graduated response system for an injunction.
