Former Law Society President steps again into managing partner role

Top role for former Law Society President

Former Law Society President John Shaw is the new managing partner at Ennis-based Michael Houlihan & Partners (MHP). This is his second stint in the role having previously been in the position from 2005-09.

Shaw succeeds Paul Tuohy who will continue to specialise in litigation.

John Shaw has been county solicitor for Clare since November 2007 and has  a particular interest in alternative dispute resolution, as well as extensive experience of public law.

Guidance and Ethics Committee

At the Law Society, John Shaw chaired the Task Force on the Future of the Law Society, the committee which published the Code of Conduct for Council Members of the Law Society.

He also chaired the Law Society’s Guidance and Ethics Committee, resulting in the publication of the book Code of Conduct for Solicitors in Ireland.
