Justice Aileen Donnelly goes to Court of Appeal

Justice Aileen Donnelly of the High Court (pictured) has been named by Government for appointment to the Court of Appeal.

The vacancy arose following the appointment of Justice Mary Irvine to the Supreme Court last month.

Judge Patricia Ryan of the Circuit Court has also been named as President of the Circuit Court.

Former solicitor Judge Colin Daly of the District Court is appointed President of the District Court.

This appointment to a presidential role in the courts marks a historic first for a former Law Society Council member.

Justice Aileen Donnelly was appointed to the High Court in September 2014. She was educated at University College Dublin and the King’s Inns. She was called to the Bar in 1988 and to the Inner Bar in 2004.
