Artists are invited to apply for a creative residency at the King’s Inns.
The legal education faculty plans to host an artist to live and work in its unique Dublin 1 environment, starting this September.
The creative residency is a new and exciting partnership between the Honorable Society of King’s Inns and the Dublin City Council Culture Company.
The bursary seeks to sustain an artist in the creation of new work, rooted within King’s Inns and the extraordinary and historic environment of Henrietta Street, where both organisations are based.
Art and the law
Through the residency, the selected artist will be encouraged to develop and explore the theme of art and the law.
The selected artist will create a final (permanent or temporary) creative work for public presentation at the end of the residency.
The residency offers accommodation at the Gate Lodge, a stipend and additional funds for the creation of an artwork.
The artist will also have the support of an advisory group and a network of fellow artists, creative producers, academics and legal professionals.
Built into the residency is the opportunity to share practice, avail of peer learning opportunities, and engage new audiences, as well as gaining access to the King’s Inns venue and resources, including the library, park, staff and students.
Track record
Artists based in Ireland, with a proven track record of working creatively, are eligible and the residency is open to any medium (architecture, circus, crafts, dance, digital media, film, movement, music, spectacle, theatre, writing, visual art, as well as multi-disciplinary practice and design of all kinds).
