Belfast law firm advises on multi-million pound acquisition

Millar McCall Wylie recently advised e-learning company Learning Pool on its multi-million-pound acquisition of Oxfordshire-based HT2 Labs, a learning innovation company best known for its Learning Locker and Curatr products.

The award-winning Learning Pool boasts 650 private and public-sector customers.

The Millar McCall Wylie team that assisted with the acquisition was led by corporate partner Damian McParland (pictured), with support from Louise Cavanagh and Scott Kennedy (corporate), Andrew Kerr (property) and Jan Cunningham (employment).

Passion for innovation

Paul McElvaney (chief executive at Learning Pool) said: “We’ve been admirers of HT2 Labs’ products for a long time and are excited to be working even more closely with a group of people who share our passion for innovation, creating positive business impact and driving customer service.

“Having worked with Millar McCall Wylie on previous occasions, Damian and his team really understand our culture and were best placed to drive this acquisition for our ambitious and fast growing business,” he concluded.

Significant deals

The Belfast law firm has acted for Learning Pool since its formation, with significant deals including the investment by Carlyle Cardinal Ireland, and the acquisitions of Mind Click in Nottingham and MediaCorp in Glasgow.

The latest acquisition means that Learning Pool now has offices in Belfast and Derry, as well as three offices in England, one in Scotland, and a US foothold in Boston, Massachusetts.
