Ivana Bacik is IWLA lawyer of the year

The Irish Women Lawyers Association has revealed that the 2019 Irish Woman Lawyer of the Year is Senator Ivana Bacik.

Senator Bacik will be presented with her award at the IWLA Annual Gala on 19 October in the Presidents’ Hall of the Law Society in collaboration with Law Society Finuas Skillnet and with the support of the Law Society and Eversheds Sutherland.

Reid professor

Senator Ivana Bacik, LLB, LLM (Lond), BL, FTCD, is the Reid Professor of Criminal Law, Criminology and Penology at Trinity College Dublin (previously held by President Mary Robinson and President Mary McAleese).

She is a qualified barrister, and a senior lecturer and Fellow of Trinity College (elected in 2005). She is a Senator for Dublin University (elected 2007, re-elected 2011 and 2016).

Research interests

Her research interests include criminal law; criminology; feminist theory of law and equality law.
