PIAB penalises paper applications with fee hike

The Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) is introducing a new fee structure to encourage greater use of online services for making personal injury claims.

From September 1, the fee charged for paper-based applications submitted by both post and email to PIAB will increase to €90.

This change has been introduced under SI 363 – PIAB (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2019.

Applications submitted using the following online options – PIAB Solicitors Portal or PIAB Online Application Form – will not have an increase in fees, and the fee for these options will remain at €45.

All applications through the PIAB Solicitors Portal or PIAB Online Application form will remain unchanged.

Automated

The PIAB Solicitors Portal offers automated acknowledgement of the statute stopped date on submission of an application and access to real time information in relation to claims.  The portal also offers payment on account options.
