Solicitor takes up academic role at Maynooth University

Solicitor Oisín Suttle is the new Assistant Professor of Law at Maynooth University School of Law.

Dr Suttle holds degrees in law (University College Dublin) and international relations (University of Oxford), and a PhD on the philosophy of international economic law (University College London).

He previously practised commercial law as an associate solicitor with McCann FitzGerald in Dublin, and is qualified both in Ireland and in England and Wales.

Research interests

Dr Suttle’s research interests are primarily in international law, including international trade law and legal and political theory.

His 2017 book, Distributive Justice and World Trade Law: A Political Theory of International Economic Law (2018, Cambridge) was recently shortlisted for the prestigious Peter Birks Prize of the Society of Legal Scholars.

Other work has been published in leading international journals, including the European Journal of International Law, the Modern Law Review, and International & Comparative Law Quarterly.
 
Before joining Maynooth University, Oisín taught at Queen’s University Belfast, the University of Sheffield, and University College London.
