Pragmatic preparedness in employment law
For the first time ever, a Law Society employment law seminar is open to human resources professionals.
With an exceptional line-up of speakers, the seminar will offer updates in all the key changes in employment law.
Pitfalls
Most importantly, it will examine how employers can demonstrate compliance with employment law and avoid pitfalls ahead of Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) inspections.
The seminar is presented by the Law Society Employment Law Committee in collaboration with Law Society Professional Training.
It will include a panel discussion on WRC inspections and the practical implications.
The seminar will also attempt to demystify the Transfer of Undertakings regulations and examine proposed pensions auto-enrolments planned for Ireland.
Speakers include Loughlin Deegan, a partner at ByrneWallace, Dublin, who advises across the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
Pragmatic approach
Hayes Solicitors partner Breda O’Malley believes in adopting a commercially pragmatic approach where possible and uses her skills as an accredited commercial mediator.
Solicitor Anne O’Connell, who is principal at her own practice, practiced employment law in various firms including the Chief State Solicitors Office, two top tier Irish law firms and in a small firm.
Examiner
She lectures and tutors extensively on employment topics at the Law Society and is the external examiner for the Law Society’s Diploma on Employment Law.
Mason Hayes & Curran partner Stephen Gillick is head of pensions at the firm.
He has extensive experience in advising trustees, sponsoring employers and pension providers on a range of issues, including pension scheme establishment and restructuring, pension scheme funding and exercises to reduce scheme liabilities.
John Kelly is a regional manager at the Workplace Relations Commission in Carlow and is responsible for the supervision of labour inspections in the east and the south-west operational regions.
His areas of responsibility include employment permits, employment issues for migrant workers and the domestic work sector.
Online bookings
Bookings for the employment law seminar can be made by post or online.
