Bookings are now open for family arbitration seminar
A free-of-charge information seminar for arbitrators and family law practitioners is now open for bookings.
The seminar is being organised by CIArb Irish branch in collaboration with the Law Society Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Committee, the Law Society Family Law Committee, the Bar of Ireland and the Family Lawyers Association of Ireland.
The purpose of the seminar is to introduce the concept of an Irish Family Law Arbitration Scheme (FLAS).
In the chair is Mr Justice David Barniville of the High Court.
The seminar will take place on 5 December at the Dublin Dispute Resolution Centre, Distillery Building in Dublin 7, at 4.15 pm.
Initiative
This initiative is to introduce the concept of a family law arbitration scheme to a wider audience and to examine the potential appetite for these methods.
The speakers are as follows:
- Michael Carrigan, solicitor and arbitrator (Ireland),
- Charles Hale QC (England and Wales),
- Suzanne Kingston, solicitor (England and Wales).
Disputes
The latter two speakers, who are London-based family lawyers and arbitrators, will make a presentation on the arbitration of family disputes in the UK.
Suzanne Kingston has been described as the ‘queen of arbitration’ in the Chambers UK High Net Worth Guide 2018.
She supports clients facing complex financial issues and children arrangements following separation.
Matrimonial finance
Charles Hale QC is an expert in all aspects of matrimonial finance.
The talks will be followed by an examination of the pros and cons of an Irish family law arbitration scheme, including an examination of any possible constitutional issues.
Two point five CPD points will be available for attendance.
