DLA Piper opens graduate traineeship in Dublin

DLA Piper continues its Irish expansion with a move to a 10,000-square-foot office on St Stephen's Green.

The new office will accommodate the law firm’s growing headcount, which will reach 50 by January 2020, and provide space for growth. The firm is on track to deliver a practice of 100 lawyers and business professionals in the coming years.

DLA Piper also announced the expansion of its international graduate programme, with plans for a summer internship in Dublin next summer.

It will also be launching a paralegal programme that will provide law graduates with an opportunity to build their knowledge and gain experience working in a legal environment. Paralegals taking part in the programme will be assessed for a solicitor training contract.

Global reach

Country managing partner David Carthy said: "These programmes are likely to prove particularly attractive because of the firm's global reach, and the opportunities for secondments."

During the graduate programme, graduates will have the opportunity to apply for an international secondment to work in one of the DLA Piper's offices across the globe. Successful candidates will develop legal knowledge in other jurisdictions, and grow professional networks across the firm.

Carthy added: "We are delighted with our growth and reception by the Irish and global client community. It is, however, very important for us to grow in the right way.

"We are looking for aspiring graduates who want to work in an environment that is challenging, rewarding and, we believe, truly different from our competitors.

Perspectives

“We don't have a set profile for our trainees -- that's what sets us apart. Not only does this allow us to serve our clients better; it opens us up to a range of different and unique perspectives."

Applications for DLA Piper’s summer internship in Dublin will open in December, and are being sought from graduates of all international educational institutions, and from both legal and non-legal disciplines. The paralegal programme will launch later in 2020.
