Medical Council Ireland chief executive Bill Prasifka is a trained lawyer from the US, who has held a number of other high-profile posts, including Financial Services Ombudsman, Chairman of the Competition Authority and Commissioner of Aviation Regulation.
Born in Los Angeles, Prasifka was educated at Columbia University, New York, and practised as a lawyer in US before moving to Ireland. He has held a number of roles in the private sector advising in areas of Irish, European and American law — prior to assuming his regulatory roles.
