Capuchin day centre legal fundraiser postponed

Next week’s Lawyers Against Homelessness (LAH) CPD event at Dublin’s Capuchin Day Centre has been cancelled due to the coronavirus threat.

Organiser Sophie Honohan of the Law Library told Gazette.ie: “A decision has been taken that because of Covid19 threat, that it would be inappropriate to hold the seminar on that date.

On hold

“We are therefore putting our eighth seminar on hold. Mr Justice George Bermingham, President of the Court of Appeal, was to launch this eighth seminar.

“We are postponing the event indefinitely as it is not possible given the current circumstances to set an exact date.

“We are very hopeful of having the seminar in late May or early June.”

LAH will keep all practitioners posted, Sophie said.

LAH, a collaborative effort between barristers and solicitors, has raised over €165,000 through CPD events for the Capuchin Day Centre and Dublin’s needy since it was established in late 2017.
