Purple Day, in support of people with epilepsy, falls tomorrow 26 March.

Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide and it is held annually on 26 March.

Occasion

Iconic buildings around Ireland will be lighting up purple to mark the occasion.

Supporters are invited to wear purple in support of epilepsy awareness on this day. 

Barrister Lorraine Lally says: “Purple Day is a unique opportunity to support people with epilepsy which is the most common neurological condition in Ireland.

“For a person with epilepsy, employment can be a lifeline.

“I am lucky as a barrister to benefit from being self-employed and to have an excellent knowledge of the laws in relation to equality and discrimination."

Lorraine points out that many people with epilepsy and other conditions will be self-isolating at this time. 

“The idea of the Purple Day is to raise awareness and to educate people where we can, on epilepsy as a condition. 

Inclusive workplaces

“I am firm believer that we need inclusive workplaces and work practices within all professions,” she says.
