Key consumer post for former solicitor

The Central Bank has appointed former solicitor Colm Kincaid (pictured) as its new director of consumer protection.

He will replace Grainne McEvoy, who will leave the bank in January 2022 to work in the private sector. The appointment will take effect from 1 October.

Kincaid, currently the regulator’s director of securities and markets supervision, previously headed the consumer-protection division.

'Leadership and experience'

Derville Rowland (director general) said that he brought considerable leadership and experience to the role, as well as a broad range of financial knowledge.

Kincaid joined the Central Bank in 2004, having previously practised as a solicitor in London and Dublin. He had previously been deputy head of the bank’s legal division.

The regulator said that it would now begin the process of filling the role of director of securities and markets supervision.
