Solicitor appointed by Nasc to work with refugees

Migrant and refugee-rights centre Nasc has announced the appointment of UCC graduate Brian Collins to its Cork office.

Collins was called to the Irish Bar in 2010, and worked in immigration and asylum law. In 2014, he was admitted as a solicitor.

He joins Julie O’Leary and Natalia McDonald in the legal department, which works with up to 1,500 refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants each year.

Funded

The position is partly funded by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth (DCEDIY), and the European Commission.

Brian Collins previously worked in Dublin as a solicitor with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission, with the Irish Refugee Council’s Independent Law Centre, and with the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission.

He is also a board member of Arts and Disability Ireland.
