Deadline for Justice Media Awards looming

The Law Society has reminded journalists that there is just under one week left to enter for the Justice Media Awards 2022.

The awards recognise outstanding print and broadcast journalism that contributes to the public’s understanding of justice, the legal system, and legal issues.

They have been in existence for more than 30 years, and are the longest continuously running media awards in Ireland.

The Justice Media Awards 2022 will take place on Wednesday, 22 June.

Climate justice

This year’s awards include a new category covering reporting on environmental issues and climate justice.

The Law Society says this category was developed to recognise the growing importance of reporting on issues relating to equality, human rights, and climate change.

As part of the annual review of categories, a stand-alone podcast category has been established to recognise the increasingly competitive trend and high quality of podcast entries. The overall Justice Media Award winner for 2021 was ‘Where is George Gibney?’, the Second Captains podcast series for BBC Sounds.

Diversity

The Law Society particularly encourages entries from journalists from diverse backgrounds, and entries covering topics relating to the law that increase representation for gender equality, diversity, and inclusion issues in Ireland.

The deadline for entries is at 5pm on Wednesday, 30 March.

The full list of categories, entry forms, and submission guidelines is available on the Law Society website.
