Gateley names managing partner for Belfast

Legal and professional-services group Gateley has named Belfast-based property lawyer Alison Reid as managing partner of its Northern Ireland office.

Reid joined the business in 2021, as a partner in the property team, specialising in the supported and assisted-living sector, as well as residential and commercial property.

Gateley is planning to expand its Belfast practice, and has made a number of other appointments to support this.

Lisa Boyd joins the firm as a construction partner, specialising in procurement law. Stephen McGuigan has also been appointed as a construction solicitor.

‘Buoyant’ market

Chelsea Garrett joins the team as a residential and commercial-property solicitor, while Joanne Lightburn starts as a senior associate.

Alison Reid said that these additions would support the firm’s goal of becoming a full-service commercial legal practice.

“The property market in Northern Ireland is very buoyant and our practice is now well equipped to support this demand,” she added.

Gateley’s Belfast office now has 25 lawyers, all of whom can practise law and advise clients in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
