Remote courts VMR codes update for practitioners

The Circuit and District Courts will continue, until the end of June, the use of the current virtual meeting room (VMR) codes that were provided at the beginning of the year, with the aim of simplifying processes.

Practitioners may continue to access the VMR codes from their members’ areas, as soon as the Legal Diary or issued court lists indicate whether the court is to be remote or hybrid.

A request to appear remotely must be made to the presiding judge prior to a court date, and the relevant court office should be emailed with such requests.

In respect of the High Court, judges’ individual codes will continue to be effective until the end of September 2022 – except for judges who use Pexip Infinity software, who will use new codes for the Easter and Trinity terms.

Codes

VMR codes will be available from both the Law Society and Bar Council websites.

Practitioners should refer to the President's Notices for Easter and Trinity Terms 2022 (Dublin Sittings and Provincial Sittings) to determine the arrangements in respect of the various lists.

Lists that have been proceeding remotely will continue to be dealt with in the same fashion, and no change to this is currently anticipated.

Specific arrangements for each list will also be detailed in the President’s notice.

In respect of hearings, practitioners should be in a position to indicate whether a matter should proceed physically, remotely, or on a hybrid basis at call-overs of hearings.

This application is subject to the decision of the list judge.
