Latest Law Society training event held in Cork

More than 110 solicitors from across Cork and Munster attended the Practitioner Update Cork 2022, a major legal conference that took place at The Kingsley Hotel, Cork, on 24 November.

Solicitor Emma Meagher Neville (President of the Southern Law Association), of Ahern Roberts O’Rourke Williams & Partners in Carrigaline, chaired the event.

“This year, expert speakers in wills and probate, litigation, and regulation addressed the conference, highlighting key issues for Cork solicitors and their clients,” she said.

Organised by Law Society Skillnet in association with the Southern Law Association, this was the ninth in this year’s series of specialised training events designed to support local solicitors in communities throughout Ireland to upskill on topics related to legal practice.

Wills and probate

One of the main topics covered at this year’s update was that of wills and probate.

“As solicitors, we know the importance of having a valid will, and ensuring it is kept up to date. The conference highlighted the importance for every adult to have their will made,” Meagher Neville stated.

“As we approach the end of 2022, we encourage Cork residents to consider their long-term wishes and to put these into writing. Ensuring your will is up-to-date and valid can provide peace of mind to you and your loved ones and can help avoid heartbreak or stress down the line.

“If you need to make a will, talk to your local solicitor who can guide you each step of the way,” she added.

Talk to your solicitor

“Solicitors are continuously striving to provide the best possible legal services for our clients and communities. Remember, a solicitor’s main priority is their client; we are here to support you at all stages of life,” Meagher Neville continued.

“Thanks to the Practitioner Update Cork 2022, solicitors from across Cork and Munster are up to date on essential areas of law and ready to meet the evolving needs of their clients.

“If you need trusted advice, whether on making a will, buying a home, employment or family matters, talk to your local solicitor,” said Meagher Neville.
