Nods for Maples lawyers at business law awards
Two partners of Maples and Calder (Ireland) LLP were honoured at this year’s Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards on 23 June.
Eimear O'Dwyer (small picture, partner and co-head of the Irish funds and investment management practice) was named 'Investment Funds Lawyer of the Year'. Lorna Smith (financial services regulatory partner) was named ‘Financial Regulation Lawyer of the Year'.
Prestigious awards
Managing partner Peter Stapleton congratulated the duo on receiving the prestigious awards, which, he said, were testament to their exceptional hard work and expertise.
Earlier this year, Elizabeth Bradley and Sarah Francis were recognised at the IFLR1000 Women Leaders 2022 awards. Last year, Donna Ager was named 'Aviation Lawyer of the Year', while Vanessa Lawlor won the 'Finance Rising Star' award at the Euromoney Women in Business Law Awards 2021.
Meanwhile, two Eversheds Sutherland LLP lawyers also won awards at the 12th annual Women in Business Law Awards 2022.
Tech lawyer of year
For the second time, Marie McGinley (partner and head of IP, technology and data protection) won ‘Technology Lawyer of the Year’.
Joanne Hyde (partner and head of employment law and commercial) won the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award.
Over 135 firms provided submissions for 420 nominees across 38 jurisdictions for the 79 awards categories.
Managing partner Alan Connell said: “These awards celebrate the best of the best of today's leading female lawyers across Europe, and I am delighted that Marie and Joanne have been honoured in this respect.
“Their wins are a testament to their outstanding work, achievements and commitment to our clients, particularly on the international stage. I wish them both every continued success,” he said.
