Crowley Millar and JR Sweeney to merge firms
Two Irish firms, Crowley Millar Solicitors LLP and J R Sweeney LLP, are to merge their businesses with effect from tomorrow (1 December).
The merger will create a practice with ten partners, 20 solicitors and a total staff of 48 people, working from 2-3 Exchange Place, Georges Dock, IFSC, Dublin 1, and at The Gallery, 13 Bedford Row, Limerick.
The merged firm will practice under the name or style of Crowley Millar Solicitors LLP (Incorporating J R Sweeney LLP).
The merger will have specialist departments in corporate law, litigation and dispute resolution, property, employment law, private client, insurance, public health and administrative law.
The merged firm will also operate Chinese and Indian desks.
Joseph R Sweeney will chair the merged firm and Eileen Kelly and Bryan C Sweeney will become partners in the expanded firm.
Joseph Sweeney commented: “In an era of many changes in the landscape of legal firms in Ireland, my partners and I are delighted to merge with Crowley Millar.
“Both firms are very compatible, with a clear focus on outstanding client service. We have always had great respect for one another. While we have specialised in commercial and property services, our whole focus has been on what is best for our clients.”
Premise
Hugh J Millar, who will be managing partner, said: “This is a major development for both our firms. We approached the merger on the simple premise that we both have based our success on a very personalised and partner-led service to our valued clients.
J R Sweeney LLP was initially founded by Joe Sweeney in 2012, who was subsequently joined by Eileen Kelly and Bryan Sweeney. It operated as a boutique law firm focusing on advising owner-managed businesses, corporate transactions, and private client and property matters.
Established in 1989, Crowley Millar is a full-service law firm based in the IFSC in Dublin, with a regional office in Limerick. It advises on all areas of law, including corporate and property matters, as well as probate and succession. It is recognised internationally for its leading litigation and dispute-resolution department.
