Matheson launches 2022 Cara Scholarship

Law firm Matheson has launched its Matheson Cara Scholarship in partnership with Trinity College Dublin (TCD).

The scholarship, named in honour of the late Matheson partner Cara O'Hagan, aims to support university students to succeed in their early careers.

It is open to second-year under-graduate students in TCD – including students on the Higher Education Access Route (HEAR) or the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) schemes, mature students, and students who face barriers in third-level education.

Bursary of €5,000

The winner will receive:

  • A place on Matheson’s summer internship programme in June 2023,
  • A bursary of €5,000 for each academic year, and
  • An assigned mentor from Matheson to support them during their university journey.

Michael Jackson, Matheson’s managing partner, said that the firm was committed to delivering equality of opportunity and experience to everyone who worked at the firm.

“Through this scholarship, we are delighted to extend this commitment to improving inclusivity within the legal sector in general," he added.

Applicants are asked to email a copy of their CV, and a short summary (maximum 1,000 words) of why they believe they should receive the scholarship, to tcd.scholarship@matheson.com by Monday 21 November.
