Bar of Ireland to launch alumni network

The Bar of Ireland is to launch its alumni network at an event in Dublin on 22 October.

The body says that Beyond the Bar will offer members dedicated networking events, opportunities for learning and professional development, and access to Bar of Ireland online resources.

There will also be a dedicated newsletter for alumni.

The Bar of Ireland says that it wants to maintain relationships with those who take up opportunities outside the Law Library.

Culture and values

It adds that the new initiative will gives former members the chance to build a community of fellow alumni across a range of sectors, while also strengthening the culture and values of the Bar of Ireland, “recognising that integrity, professionalism and collegiality extend to our former colleagues”.

The launch event takes place at 7pm in The Atrium, Distillery Building in Dublin.

Speakers include:

  • Sara Phelan SC (chair of the Bar of Ireland),
  • Damien Moloney BL (Director General, Office of the Attorney General),
  • Mellissa English SC (Chief Parliamentary Advisor, Assistant Secretary General, Houses of the Oireachtas),
  • Robert A Bourke BL (Legal Counsel, New Relic).
