Free Interrail ticket applications open shortly
A total of 35,000 free Interrail passes will be made available to 18-year-old residents of the EU this year under the DiscoverEU arm of the Erasmus+ programme.
There will be two application rounds this year, and successful applicants will be awarded with a travel pass.
Teens from third countries associated with the Erasmus+ Programme, such as Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye, may also apply.
Discounts
Successful applicants will receive a DiscoverEU European Youth Card giving discounts on cultural visits, learning activities, sports, local transportation, accommodation, and food.
More than 200,000 young people have been awarded a travel pass since the first application round in June 2018.
The next round will take place between 15-29 March.
To be eligible, you need to:
- Be born between 1 July 2004 and 30 June 2005,
- Complete the correct identity card (ID), passport or legal residence card number on the online application form,
- Be a citizen or legal resident of the EU, including Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) and third countries,
- Answer quiz questions.
Applicants with a disability or health problem will receive assistance. Groups of up to four may apply together.
