Solicitor and SC goes to Circuit Court

At its meeting yesterday (4 July) the Government nominated solicitor Jennifer O’Brien SC for appointment as a judge of the Circuit Court.

O’Brien (pictured) was recently conferred with a patent of precedence.

She qualified as solicitor in 1997, and was a lecturer for the Law Society of Ireland from 2005.

Additional posts

Also nominated for appointment as judges of the Circuit Court were Gerard Meehan SC and Fiona O’Sullivan SC.

The three additional posts in the Circuit Court were created under the Courts Act 2023, which provides for a statutory complement of the ordinary judges of the Circuit Court to be increased by five, from 40 to 45.
