Law Society team takes Michael Peart prize

Trainees from the Law Society’s Law School travelled to Belfast recently (11 May) to take part in the annual Michael Peart Challenge Cup competition in Belfast.

This cross-border competition is a collaboration between the Law Society and the North’s Institute of Professional Legal Studies (IPLS).

The contest promotes the value of resolving disputes through mediation, and is designed to help trainees from both institutions to develop their mediation skills in tandem with receiving feedback from expert practitioners.

Rounds

Eight teams of four trainees each participated in two mediation rounds. Barbara Jemphrey, Director of the IPLS, presented the cup to the winning Law Society team, comprising:

  • Sarah Courtney (Arthur Cox),
  • Niamh Ferry (Arthur Cox),
  • Steven Scanlan (RDJ),
  • Andrea Whelton (Arthur Cox).

Jemima Militti (RDJ) was also recognised for her role as best client advocate in the competition.

Congratulations to all involved.
