Law Society invitation to climate-justice conference

Law Society members are invited to attend its climate-justice conference 'Policies and Actions for a Climate Responsive Justice Sector'.

It will be held on Monday, 6 November and will hear from keynote speaker Matej Accetto (pictured), President of the Slovenian Constitutional Court, who will be joined by leading domestic and international experts.

  • Time: 2-6pm,
  • Venue: Law Society, Presidents’ Hall, Blackhall Place, Dublin 7.

The conference will feature sessions and panel discussions on the Planning and Development Bill 2023; biodiversity and the climate crisis; ethics and climate-conscious lawyering, and climate litigation. 

Confirmed speakers include the following:

  • Matej Accetto (President of the Slovenian Constitutional Court),
  • Gerry Liston (senior lawyer with the Global Legal Action Network),
  • Brian MacSharry (head of group of biodiversity at the European Environment Agency),
  • Alasdair Cameron (policy adviser in climate change and planning-and-environmental law, Law Society of England and Wales),
  • Rachel Minch SC, (partner at Philip Lee LLP), who will discuss the new legislation to reform Ireland's planning laws.

The conference will be followed by a wine reception in the Blue Room, and a full programme will be available shortly.

Three general CPD points by group study are available to attendees.
