Construction output was down 3.3% in Q2

The volume of production in building and construction fell by 3.3% in Q2 this year, compared with Q1 2023 on a seasonally adjusted basis, CSO data shows.

On an annual basis, a 2.1% decrease in the volume of production was recorded.

The seasonally-adjusted volume index for the non-residential building sector fell by 3.8% between Q1 and Q2 this year.

Residential sector down 2.3%

The residential building sector was down 2.3% in volume in Q2 compared with Q1 of this year.

Between Q1 and Q2 2023, the seasonally-adjusted volume index for the civil-engineering sector rose by 5.8%.

The seasonally-adjusted value index for all building and construction increased by 1.5% on a quarterly basis, and by 4.3% on an annual basis.
