Bump in ‘traditional’ manufacturing productivity

From December 2023 to February 2024, production in manufacturing industries increased by 24.3% over the previous three-month period, CSO figures show.

On a monthly basis, production in manufacturing industries rose by 2.2% in February.

On an annual basis, production in manufacturing industries was 13.7% lower in the three months from December 2023 to February 2024 when compared with the same period in the previous year.

Decline

In the three-month period from December 2023 to February 2024, the ‘modern’ sector experienced an annual decline of 21.1% in production when compared with the same three-month period in the previous 12-months.

In contrast, annual production in the ‘traditional’ sector grew by 12.9%.

From December 2023 to February 2024, turnover in manufacturing industries was up by 14.3% when compared with the previous three-month period.
