DWF names new managing partner for Dublin office

Legal-services group DWF has named James Colville as the new managing partner of its Dublin office.

He will also be head of insurance in Dublin, taking up both roles in January.

Colville has qualified, trained, and worked in both England and Ireland with firms such as Greenwoods, Eversheds, and DAC Beachcroft.

Personal-injury practice

From 2010 to 2024, he led DAC Beachcroft's personal-injury practice in Dublin, building it into a multi-million-euro team with more than 30 staff.

His experience includes acting for clients defending medical negligence, professional indemnity, construction claims, and injury claims.

Colville described the appointment as “an exciting opportunity to lead a talented team”.

‘Proven track record’

Matthew Doughty (chief executive, DWF insurance services) described Colville as “a very experienced defendant lawyer, with an extensive network of contacts in both the Irish and London markets and beyond”.

“His extensive experience and proven track record in building successful teams make him an invaluable addition to our business,” he added.

DWF has been expanding globally, and last week announced the recruitment of a team of 28 people in Montreal Canada.
