City of London mayor in Dublin for talks

Ireland for Law discussed issues for potential collaboration with the Lord Mayor of the City of London Corporation at an event held in the Law Society on 26 January.

At the event, Michael Mainelli spoke about the ethics of artificial intelligence (AI) and the need for the challenges and opportunities of AI to be met and harnessed.

Ireland for Law also explained how it was working to promote Irish legal services internationally.

Financial sector

The City of London Corporation is the governing body for the area known as the ‘Square Mile’, which is host to much of Britain’s financial-services sector.

Ireland for Law was represented by Tara Doyle and Dermot Ryan, who were joined by Barry MacCarthy (president, Law Society), Eamonn Harrington (vice-president), Sara Phelan (chair, Bar of Ireland), and Teri Kelly (director of representation and member services, Law Society).

Lord Mayor Mainelli was joined by Nick Collier and Katherine King.
