Deadline for 2024 PC applications approaching
The closing date for the renewal of practising certificates (PCs) is fast approaching, and the Law Society is encouraging anyone who has not submitted and paid for their application to make this their top priority.
The date of 1 February 2024 is a statutory deadline. If you want your 2024 PC to be dated 1 January, you must submit a fully completed application, together with full payment of fees, through the online portal on the Law Society website on or before this closing date.
Payment must accompany submitted PC applications.
Payment
To date, just under 4,000 PCs have been approved, with a further 339 in progress. 4,985 applications have been submitted and are awaiting payment.
Unless payment is received on or before 1 February, the application cannot be processed, and you will be required to backdate your PC to 1 January by application to the President of the High Court.
Therefore, it is essential to get your PC, with payment, submitted online as soon as possible.
EFT form
If you are purchasing your PC with an EFT (electronic fund transfer) payment, please allow sufficient time for the funds to reach the Law Society’s account on or before 1 February.
You should also remember to generate the EFT form at the end of the application process, and then send the form, together with payment schedule, to pc@lawsociety.ie.
By doing this, you will ensure that your payment can be easily located in the Law Society’s bank account and linked to your application.
Payment can also be made with a credit or debit card. If you are concerned that an EFT payment will not reach the Law Society by 1 February, you may wish to consider this payment method.
