HSE ethics committee seeking members

A HSE research-ethics committee in the mid-west region is seeking expressions of interest from people interested in becoming members – including solicitors and legal advisers.

The HSE University of Limerick (UL) Hospital Group and Midwest Community Healthcare Research Ethics Committee (REC) reviews health and social-care research studies for the HSE Midwest health region.

Members of RECs are responsible for contributing to protecting the welfare and the rights of research participants, in accordance with recognised ethical principles and standards of relevant legislation.

They will also be part of a group that ensures that the RECs protect the host institutions, their, staff and researchers, by ensuring research abides to high-quality ethical standards.

Anyone who is interested can contact the committee directly at ULHGResearchEthicsandClinicalTrials@hse.ie.
