Judges are nominated to the higher courts

Ms Justice Niamh Hyland is to be nominated to the Court of Appeal. The vacancy follows the appointment of Ms Justice Úna Ní Raifeartaigh to the European Court of Human Rights recently.

Nessa Cahill SC has been appointed to the High Court.

Vacancy

That vacancy arises following the appointment of Mr Justice Michael MacGrath to the Court of Appeal earlier this summer.

The Government also decided to nominate Roderick Maguire BL and Sinéad McMullan BL as judges of the Circuit Court.

Those vacancies arose following the retirements of Judge Alice Theresa Doyle and Judge Thomas O’Donnell earlier this summer.
