CSSO competition for role as State solicitor

The Chief State Solicitor’s Office (CSSO) is holding an open competition for the role of State solicitor (fixed term).

The CSSO describes the position as “a diverse legal role”, adding that applicants should possess a sound knowledge of general law and practice.

The office is aiming to attract people with “a strong public-service ethos” who show commitment, energy, sound judgment and an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines when needed.

Priority areas

The duties will vary depending on the section to which an officer is assigned.

“State solicitors may be called on, from time to time, to assist in priority areas – including the CSSO’s response to emerging issues that arise, such as extradition requests, European co-operation requests, judicial-review litigation, immigration and asylum litigation, or urgent transactional work,” the office states.

The closing date for applications is 3pm on Thursday 27 June. Applicants are urged to read the information booklet.
