Speakers confirmed for Law Society Pro Bono Week

Speakers have been confirmed for a pro bono event at the Law Society on Thursday (13 June) at 4.30pm.

Registration is now open for the event marking Pro Bono Week at Blackhall Place.

The event will be chaired by Mr Justice Liam Kennedy of the High Court.

Confirmed speaker panel

  • Eilis Barry, chief executive FLAC,
  • Michelle Drury, Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI),
  • John Lunney, Law Society Street Law Programme,
  • Gemma McLoughlin Burke, Voluntary Assistance Programme.

This event brings the wider legal and NGO communities together to celebrate the growth of pro bono work in Ireland.

A Public Interest Law Alliance (PILA) representative will explain the Irish pro bono infrastructural landscape and pathways for lawyers to get involved in pro bono work.

During the second half of the event, a pro bono lawyer will facilitate the first in-person PILA NGO Pitch, during which three social justice organisations will pitch to receive pro bono legal services from the attending legal practitioners.

Finally, the event will facilitate networking opportunities between NGO representatives and the legal community.
