Ivor Fitzpatrick RIP

Dublin solicitor and property developer Ivor Fitzpatrick has died following an illness.

Fitzpatrick (68) died at home in Avoca, Co Wicklow, on Sunday after “a difficult illness bravely borne”.

A requiem service will take place today, Thursday 28 March, at 12 noon in St Mary’s & St Patrick’s Church in Avoca, Co Wicklow.

Ivor Fitzpatrick & Co Solicitors said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the death of our managing partner and dear friend, Ivor Fitzpatrick. Ivor was an enormously charismatic individual who was held in the highest esteem by everyone he worked with through the years.

“As founder and managing partner of Ivor Fitzpatrick & Company from 1981, he drove it on to become one of the top legal firms in the country. Ivor’s legacy in the legal profession is a significant one and he will be very sadly missed."

'Force of nature'

“Ivor was a true force of nature and had a wide range of interests as a lawyer, property owner and entrepreneur. It is impossible to do justice to his many achievements and interests in a short notice, save to say that he was always wise, principled and the most entertaining of companions.

“He is deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues.”

The firm will be closed today as a mark of respect.

Ivor Fitzpatrick is survived by his wife Susan (Stapleton).
