Female solicitors urged to join mentoring scheme

The Law Society is continuing to take applications for its 2024/25 Women in Leadership programme.

The aim is to mentor female solicitors to advance their careers to a senior level with well-matched participants.

One mentee has encouraged other solicitors to sign up after what she has described as “a very positive experience” with the programme.

Yvanne Kennedy (Mason Hayes & Curran) told the May edition of the Gazette that she could see herself becoming a mentor in the future because of her experience, citing her strengthened feelings of readiness and resilience.

All areas of practice

The Law Society is inviting applications for both mentors and mentees all over the country, and from all areas of practice.

The programme, which has benefited 247 women since 2016, is presented in collaboration with Law Society Skillnet, which is responsible for mentor and mentee training activities.

Matching of applicants will take place in July.

The mentoring relationship begins in the autumn, running until next May, after training is completed in September.

Interested candidates are invited to view the Law Society webpage.

• Women in Leadership is a collaboration with Law Society Skillnet and funded by a Skillnet Ireland grant.
