Practice update for north-west solicitors

Law Society Skillnet is organising a practice update for solicitors in the north-west on Thursday 23 May.

The event takes place at Solis Lough Eske Castle Hotel, Donegal, Co Donegal.

Six CPD hours, by group study, are available from the update, which runs from 10am to 5.30pm.

The day presents an opportunity for practitioners to update their knowledge in areas of law relevant to general practice.

The aim is to offer practitioners an update in relevant areas from experienced practitioners and expert speakers.

Topics and speakers

Topics include:

  • Assisted decision-making and enduring powers of attorney,
  • Solicitors Accounts Regulations,
  • Conveyancing,
  • Management and professional development, and
  • What does the Law Society do for me? Services and supports for solicitors.

The event will be chaired by Geraldine Conaghan (principal MacBride Conaghan Solicitors, and president of Inishowen Bar Association) and Margaret Mulrine (principal, MM Mulrine and Company, Letterkenny, and president of Donegal Bar Association).

Speakers include:

  • Sonia McEntee (principal, Sonia McEntee Solicitors, and Law Society Council member, small picture),
  • Garry Clarke (Lanigan Clarke Solicitors, and chair of the Law Society’s Regulation of Practice Committee),
  • Teri Kelly (Director of Representation and Member Services, Law Society),
  • Naoise Blake (Naoise Blake Training & Development),
  • Debbie Leonard (solicitor secretary to the Law Society’s Conveyancing Committee), and
  • Hilda-Clare O’Shea (solicitor, St John Solicitors LLP).
