Armagh-born KC wins Silk of the Year

Armagh-born Caroline Carberry KC has been named the England-and-Wales 2024 Crime Silk of the Year in recognition of her work on several ground-breaking cases.

Carberry was named winner of the Legal 500 Crime and Extradition Silk of the Year, from a large shortlist, at a gala evening held at London’s Park Plaza on Westminster Bridge (25 September).

Caroline Carberry, from the village of Derrynoose in South Armagh, took silk and was named KC in 2017.

Carberry was instrumental in the first successful conviction for female genital mutilation in Britain.

She is interviewed exclusively in the October Gazette, which is now online.
