Event to ‘demystify’ Law Society inspections

Law Society Professional Training is holding the last in a series of four lunchtime webinars on regulatory issues later this month.

The live Zoom webinar on preparing for an inspection will take place on Wednesday 16 October (1pm to 2pm).

The event is worth one CPD hour for client care and professional standards (accounting and AML compliance).

The webinar aims to demystify the world of Law Society inspections, identify common issues, consider potential solutions, and give solicitors the tools to prepare well in advance, so that the inspection can be as seamless as possible.

This webinar is suitable for solicitors, as well as colleagues involved in accounting and financial management in a law firm.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this webinar participants will be able to:

  • Understand the scope, aims and procedures that apply to a Law Society inspection,
  • Recognise the underlying regulatory framework,
  • Learn about common questions and issues which can arise on inspection,
  • Anticipate circumstances which may give rise to difficulties,
  • Apply suggested approaches in advance to avoid or mitigate problems,
  • Identify contacts you can reach out to in the event of any concerns before an inspection, and
  • Prepare for the next inspection.

Eamonn Maguire (Law Society of Ireland Regulatory Communications Manager) will chair the webinar, which will hear from Michael O’Connor, an investigating accountant in the Law Society of Ireland Regulation Department.

The third webinar, on cyber-crime, will take place next Wednesday (9 October).
