Law Society Council voting has opened

Voting in the elections for the Law Society Council has opened from Friday 4 October.

As was the case last year, voting will be online only. Information and assistance on voting is available on the Law Society website.

In addition to the general election contest, two candidates are contesting the provincial election for Leinster.

Overall, there are six first-time Council candidates.

Information on this year’s candidates is available on a dedicated page.

Results announced at AGM

Comprising 31 elected members, four provincial delegates and 13 nominated members, the Council represents the Law Society and its members, both in the interests of the public and of the solicitors’ profession generally.

Voting this year will run until 5pm on 17 October.

The results will be announced at the Law Society’s annual general meeting on 7 November.

Support

In order to vote, solicitors must hold a current Law Society membership.

Members who wish to vote will log in to the e-voting platform using a solicitor number, which is also the username for lawsociety.ie, and the same password that they use for lawsociety.ie.

The Law Society is offering support, during business hours, to help members to cast their ballot until voting closes through:

  • Live web chat,
  • Phone 01 672 4800,
  • Email webmaster@lawsociety.ie, and
  • On-site helpdesk assistance at Blackhall Place during the voting period.
