Brazilian Lawyers Association Blackhall event

Over 100 practitioners attended the recent international congress of the Brazilian Lawyers Association (ABA) at Law Society.

Taise Azevedo (partner at McGrath Mullan LLP), said the event was honoured by the presence of Minister-Counsellor Felipe Costi Santarosa from the Brazilian embassy and ABA President Esdras Dantas, who travelled from Brazil.

Among the topics discussed were:

  • Emotional management for lawyers,
  • Immigration law for women,
  • Entrepreneurship in the legal field,
  • Legal implications of artificial intelligence,
  • Practical challenges of GDPR implementation.

The event was coordinated by Taise Azevedo, Daiana Emmendorfer, Fabiano Milani, Regina Cardoso, Helena Mendonça, and Jamila Etchezar.

The congress provided participants with an excellent opportunity to expand their knowledge, debate contemporary issues, and strengthen the network among legal professionals, said organiser Taise Azevedo.

“The exchange of experiences and deep dive into such pertinent topics underscore the importance of initiatives like this for the continuous development of Brazilian lawyers abroad,” she added.

Presence

“Moments like these are crucial for our professional growth and for consolidating the presence of Brazilian lawyers on the international stage.”

Taise Azevedo also spoke recently at the launch of BRIA (Brazilian Ireland Association), which focuses on the inclusion of Brazilian professionals in the Irish labour market.

The event (20 September) discussed the challenges and opportunities that both employers and employees face in pursuing the much-desired work permit.

Dara Calleary (Minister at Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment) and Senator Mary Fitzpatrick were present representing the Irish government.

The next Brazilian Lawyers Association International Congress is already scheduled for 28 April 2025, in London.
