William Fry and MF win at Managing IP awards

William Fry LLP has lifted two awards at the 2025 Managing IP Awards, taking home the Irish Trademark Disputes Firm of the Year for the third consecutive year.

The firm also won the Europe Impact Case of the Year award for its work on the landmark Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC v Clonmel Healthcare Limited (C-149/22) case.

The firm said today that its success demonstrated its leadership in intellectual property law, particularly in the life sciences, technology, fashion, and food and beverage sectors.

The Europe Impact Award recognised the firm’s role in a pivotal case involving the interpretation of the SPC Regulation, with Laura Scott and Colette Brady (small picture) leading the team.

High stakes

Managing partner Stephen Keogh praised the team’s ability to handle complex, high-stakes IP matters.

And McCann FitzGerald LLP has been named Ireland Patent Disputes Firm of the Year, also at the Managing IP Awards 2025.

The award highlights the firm’s expertise in handling large, complex patent disputes across sectors including healthcare, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and energy.

The Managing IP Awards, held annually in London, are among the most respected in the intellectual property law sector, recognising top firms globally.

Managing partner Stephen Holst said: “We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition. It reflects the hard work and dedication of our team and our commitment to providing top-tier service to our clients.”

Partner Fiona O’Beirne said that the firm was grateful for its clients’ continued trust and support.
