DFAT offers internships in legal division

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is inviting applications for paid internships in its legal division.

The internships will be for a maximum of 18 months and will start in the third quarter of 2025.

The department says that the internship period will run until the end of December 2026 and will cover the Irish presidency of the EU Council, which will run for six months from 1 July 2026.

Foreign policy

Completed applications must be received no later than 5pm on Monday 28 April. Selection will be based on a competitive interview.

The role of the department’s legal division is to seek to ensure “an appropriate legal input in the formulation and implementation of Ireland’s foreign policy” and to contribute to effective Irish participation in international legal fora.

Applicants must be graduates in law at the date of application (at least at 2:1 level or equivalent experience or qualification).
