Taylor Wessing’s Dublin office is to be part of a merger deal between the international firm’s British division and US-based law firm Winston & Strawn.
Chicago-based Winston & Strawn and Taylor Wessing’s British business have announced a plan to create a transatlantic law firm that would operate under a new shared name, Winston Taylor.
Taylor Wessing said that, subject to a partner vote to that effect, the British partnership could leave the Taylor Wessing alliance at the end of April 2026.
The Taylor Wessing division comprises more than 450 lawyers in Britain, Ireland, and the Middle East.
“Because of the strength of the relationship and the breadth of experience that they have together, Taylor Wessing and its UK partnership will enter into a co-operation agreement with Winston Taylor from 1 May 2026 to ensure shared client work and co-operation with mutual clients will continue as normal,” Taylor Wessing said.
Shane Gleghorn (managing partner of Taylor Wessing UK) will become managing partner of Europe and Middle East for Winston Taylor.
As part of the deal, Taylor Wessing’s divisions in the Netherlands and Belgium will also enter into an agreement with Winston Taylor to operate under the Winston Taylor brand.
