GEMME Ireland hosts introduction to mediation

GEMME Ireland, which promotes mediation and all forms of dispute resolution, is holding an event on mediation advocacy for all legal practitioners next month.

The organisation says that the event, ‘An introduction to mediation advocacy: How to maximise your input’, is aimed at providing attendees with a fundamental knowledge of conflict resolution.

It takes place at the Gaffney Room, Bar of Ireland, Distillery Building, Dublin 7 on Thursday 13 March (4.30-6pm).

The event, which is in collaboration with the Bar of Ireland, will be held in-person and online via Zoom, but the organisers say that attendees are more likely to benefit from in-person attendance.

Chair and speakers

Registration is required at least 24 hours before the event.

High Court judge Ms Justice Sara Phelan (pictured) will chair the discussion. The speakers are:

  • Fiona McAuslan (director of family-mediation services, Legal Aid Board), and
  • Noreen Fitzpatrick, (managing mediator, Legal Aid Board).

GEMME Ireland says that, while the two speakers practise mainly in family law, their skills are fully transferable and apply to all areas of dispute resolution.

“The event is suitable for all legal practitioners, irrespective or area or level of expertise,” the organisation adds.
